The road to a new smile is a long one, but it all starts with one thing: your first visit to our office.
Your Initial Evaluation
Your first visit to the office is exciting - it's the first step on your path towards a beautiful, healthy new smile! Your first visit with us will be a time for us to get acquainted with each other, for us to learn about your orthodontic situation and health, and for us to go over some of the treatments available to you. In all, the visit will probably take about a half hour to an hour. During that time, you'll meet with one of our coordinators to take down information and get you into our system, then we'll bring you to a treatment station for a comprehensive orthodontic evaluation.
Assessing the Situation & Making a Plan
During your initial exam, we'll take detailed x-rays, photographs, and measurements of your teeth and smile. We'll cross-reference these against your medical history to form a diagnosis and treatment recommendation. In some cases, we'll also take impressions to make a mold of your teeth and bite, which will require you to bite down on some dental putty for a few minutes. This mold can be helpful in exploring your treatment options. These measurements, in concert with questions about your medical history and how your teeth and jaws function day to day, will help us make an accurate diagnosis and design a treatment plan perfectly suited to your needs.
Outlining Your Options
After the examination, we'll give you an overview of the treatments available to you and our recommendation for treatment. These may include braces or Invisalign, and depending on your developmental stage, may begin soon or at a later date. In some cases, we'll delay treatment and continue to monitor growth until the ideal time to start treatment. After explaining your situation and options, we'll take the time to answer any questions you might have and discuss your next steps.
